Pam's Prescott Blog

When my clients are in town, they always ask me for help finding a good place to eat.  While I haven't tried every restaurant in town (I'm a bit of a homebody), I do have my favorites that never let me down.  So here are a few:

Murphy's Restaurant - Cortez street, downtown Prescott

Murphy's has a classic atmosphere with rich wood interior and metal ceiling, a long bar, large tables and private booths.  The waiters wear white shirts and ties and the menu is consistently good, both for lunch and dinner.  Yesterday I shared a blackened chicken sandwich there with my husband.  Yummy!

Bin 239 - Marina street, downtown Prescott

I love, love this classy little restaurant that serves awesome woodfired pizza at great prices as well as a number of other delectable dishes and features a huge wine list that is sure to please anyone.  You can enjoy eating indoors by the fire, or out on the patio in the warmer months.  I always order the Antipasto appetizer no matter what I get.

Papa's Italian - White Spar Road (South Montezuma) near downtown

Fabulous Italian food in a really warm, cozy setting.

The Peacock Room at the Hassayampa

I love to go here for breakfast when I want something really elegant.  White tablecloths and a wonderful Art Deco styling add a lot of class to this beautiful Prescott landmark.  Wonderful breakfasts at very reasonable prices.

The Dinner Bell

OK, if you want real Americana, this is the place to go for breakfast or lunch.  This restaurant has been in the same location forever and hasn't changed much since 1950.  Some of the waitresses have been around awhile, too, and are a delight.  Remember Alice?

For Pizza, try Bill's or Mama Etta's.

Both are fantastic and attract a lot of people.  Favorites of the locals, very popular with the teens.

Mexican Food -- Sorry, nothing knocks my socks off since I ate at the Plaza Cafe in Sante Fe New Mexico.  Casa Bonita is good, Casa Sanchez is popular, but a bit bland for us Arizona natives.  El Charro gets pretty good reviews.

Hope this helps for those of you visiting our fair city and hoping to move here in the future!
